God made the plan of salvation very simple.
He also made it freely available to whomever desired to be saved.
God didn't want people to have to have college degrees
or to have lots of money to go to heaven.
God's desire is that everyone would call upon him and be saved.
In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas:... 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' And they said 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved...."
It's that simple !!!
Below are some explanations and scriptures to help you understand what is needed to become saved.
1). You must realize that you are a sinner.
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one." (Romans 3:10)
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)
2). You must realize that you have no power to save yourself.
"For the wages [payment] for sin is death" (Romans 6:23)
3). You must believe that God sent his Son Jesus to die for your sins.
"But God commendeth [showed] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
We may not understand how God did this, but we must accept by faith that all of our sins were laid upon Jesus and he died in our place.
He became our substitute. It is true, because God cannot lie.
4). You must call upon the Lord in prayer and ask him to save you.
"For whosoever [whoever] shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).
If you are not certain how to pray, here is an example of a sinner's prayer, but you should use your own words.
Oh God, be merciful to me a sinner, Lord.
Lord, please forgive me for my sins.
I believe, God, that you sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross
and to shed his blood for my sins. Lord, I believe with all of my heart,
God, that on the third day he arose from the grave and is alive today and will come again.
I know Lord there is nothing that I can do or say to save myself Lord.
I know that it is a free gift from you, so I ask you Lord to come into my heart God and save my soul.
